Kia ora,
Welcome back to Collective Matters. Our work and community continues to grow. People reach out often asking about the best way to be involved. This month we welcomed three new members to the collective: Terry Locke, Bevan Holloway, and Daniel Birch.
The past month has been busy with teachers and leaders continuing to navigate curriculum changes rolling out “at pace” for years English Years 0-6 and mathematics and statistics Years 0-8. During this time we have also seen consultation ‘Changes to school board objectives and NELP provisions’ open and close. There is also consultation open on Te whakawhitiwhiti kōrero mō te kaupapa o te Pānui Whakaaro Pae Tawhiti | Consultation on long-term insights briefing topic which focuses on ‘Realising the potential for technology to support personalised and tailored learning in the future’. This closes soon (18th October), but if you have the time, we encourage you to add your voice here.
We are pleased to be hosting Guy Claxton for an event on 22 October at 7 pm. He will be talking alongside Derek Wenmoth around ‘The Corruption of Science and The Practice of Teaching’. Tickets are available from aec.org.nz. Move quickly, we are about to sell out.
