Our school used the Smart Tool reporting for recent Year 9 and 10 reports. I found them to be wordy, full of jargon and lengthy. The what you can do at home section was generic - as bad as the read more books comment often made. They gave the impression that the teacher didn't necessarily know the child well. It would be difficult for parents to extrapolate what challenges their children are facing. A former principal instructed us to write reports for a freezing worker to understand - not a great comment but the point was made that they needed to be written to be understood by our parents/caregivers. The new reports style and tone look like AI generated. A step backwards. Also challenging for parents/caregivers to understand WHAT their children are being measured against when that is yet to be confirmed for most subjects.
